Hello everyone, here I leave the review of one of my favorite spots lately.
AlmaNegra is a little corner that I was recommended a few weeks ago in the Narvarte, so of course, I had to go and see what the charm was around this place.
I said corner, because it is indeed a very small space, nothing to do with what many would be accustomed to go and throw coffee. Here the truth is that it does not apply much for space, I would say that it is more “To-Go” coffee, but the wait really was worth it. That yes, they have a couple of tables outside for those who are not in a hurry.
Almanegracafe is characterized by providing its diners with an experience of extracting coffee. Oo! That’s right, as they read it, and that’s cooler! They do not believe? Imagine watching your rich cup of coffee go out and then savoring it.
I recommend that you go one day with great calm and patience, so that you enjoy this experience as much as I do.
Whether it’s a V60, Japanese Siphon or Chemex (which has always been my favorite method) the flavors and notes are going to stand out beautifully in anyone who dares to try.
Ari and Alex were the beautiful baristas who explained to me over and over about the type of coffee they have been handling in their different creations. They have several Mexicans, such as Atoyac de Álvarez Guerrero and Sublime Roasters , among others, honestly for me that is a plus.
They told me in detail each of the methods of extraction and how these depend a lot on the taste of diners! If you are looking for something strong or intense to start the day with lots of energy like me, I recommend the “Cold Brew”, it is a cold extraction that takes about 5 to 6 hours !!! No, do not worry, they will not have to call to tell you that they are going to the next day and that if they can put one aside, they already have it specially kept for you and you can ask for it on the rocks or with a splash of milk.
When they were explaining the rest of the menu they said “We have one that brings ICE CREAM” No good, I lost there … my eyes shone like Shrek’s cat! And they brought me an “Affogato” which is being a double espresso with a huge vanilla ball, well its not huge, here I exaggerated a bit.
An option for the more foodies (right here I am in the front row) were clearly the desserts, they have some pfff cookies that you die. Creations of Kim’s Kitchen like red velvet, mescal with worm salt, pretzel with chocolate, avocado with pistachio, caramel with sea salt and walnut from India and my favorite tarannnn: Bourbon with sea salt, I highly recommend them for Kill that whim. In addition there are some Pop Up Muffins sweet and salty made by Mostaza Boulangerie, as you see, there is enough variety to break the diet;). Sorry there are no photos because we ate them all: P
And, for those not very fond of coffee but also want to enjoy, it is always a good option to order a cold or hot cocoa infusion, it is truly a delight.
Something that caught my attention from the first day I visited them is that they have ginger beer, for the new and curious, I invite you to try it and tell me, what’s up?
For these reasons and many more, I declare myself a fan. The coffee here is wonderful, the service is amazing, they always greet you with a warm smile, they seek to offer the most accurate to your tastes and preferences as well as the great variety of delicious desserts. The best thing is that if they have no idea what they crave, they never fail their recommendations, as they like to inquire, leave the customers with a smile and very keen to return for a new option. It is worth mentioning that the prices are quite affordable and the mood is very relaxed.
Lastly and most father is that the day I went to try out more options to the Narvarte, They told me that they already opened in Rome! They are located inside La Teatreria, so there is no excuse anymore because I can practically go on my knees. In this new spot if there is enough space to sit, read, shave the shawl calmly all afternoon and the decoration is divided.
So do not think about it any more and go to either branch and fall in love with AlmaNegra like me.
What did you think? Have they tried different methods of extraction?
If you have already tried them tell me, what is your favorite?
Until next time!
