Teotihuacan is one of the most impressive archeological centers in the world. It was a powerful political, military, economic and cultural center that influenced all of Mesoamerica. During its heyday, more than 150,000 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​about 20 square kilometers, being one of the largest metropolis in the world at that time.

The  Pyramid of the Sun , 63 meters high, with a long side of 225 meters and Pyramid of the Moon , 40 meters high at the northern limit of the Causeway of the Dead, 2 km long.

The causeway of the dead: It is oriented from north to south and flanked by a residential area probably inhabited by priests.

The citadel: quadrangular platform of 400 meters, surrounded by pyramidal basements with a central shrine.

The temple to Quetzalcoatl: Named for the ornamentation of feathered serpents whose heads emerge from a flower, alternating with sculptures of the God Tlaloc.

The palace of Quetzalpapalotl: It was supposed to be the room of a great lord or a high priest, the inner courtyard pillars adorned with reliefs representing the mythological animal called quetzal – butterfly, framed by aquatic symbols.

Location:  The Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone is located in the state of Mexico approximately 40 km northeast of Mexico City, from where you can reach the Mexico-Pachuca highway, leaving on Avenida Insurgentes Norte.

Hours:   09:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 365 days a year. Visit the area’s museums and temporary exhibitions: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the 365 days of the year.
